Teen Safe Driving Program

The number one way for parents to help their children become safe drivers is to stay involved.  The process is not complete once they pass their DMV licensing process.  By that point, parents have logged numerous hours and miles in the passenger seat helping to prepare them for the test, but the test is simply the start.  The real goal is keeping them safe, teaching them defensive driving habits, preparing them to react appropriately to road conditions, traffic patterns, and other drivers.  Regardless of what our children say, and what we thought when we were in their shoes, this process takes years.  PlateTXT puts you in the passenger's seat while your miles away.

Teen Driving Facts

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, young adults ages 16-20 are more likely to die in motor vehicle accidents than in any other way.  The rate of crash fatalities for teens is four times (4x) higher than that of any other age group, and on average there are over 5,000 teen drivers killed in passenger vehicle accidents every year.  If you're a parent, you know how serious these statistics are and how difficult it is to let your teenager go out on the road by him- or herself.

If you're a teen, you've probably grown a little tired of hearing these statistics.  By the time you graduate high school, you'll probably have sat through dozens of assembly speeches telling you in gory detail all about the dangers you put yourself and others in each time you get behind the wheel.  But there is a reason for the often-heavy handed approach to teen driver education, and that is that driving is, in fact, a very serious issue.

Yes, it can be fun to finally have your freedom and be able to go whereever you want whenenver you want.  But, if you've ever lost a friend or loved one to a car accident, you know how terrible the repercussions of bad driving can be.

PlateTXT can HELP

With this in mind, PlateTXT has created a unique Teen Safe Driving Program that will help teens learn more about their own driving and give parents some peace of mind that comes with knowing that they can keep informed about their teen's driving habits even when they're not physically with them.

It works like this. Parents and teens who decide to committ to safe driving practices will discuss the importance of road safety and ways to stay safe behind the wheel.  They will then sign special safe driver agreements and contracts, with teens agreeing to place the bumper sticker on their car encouraging other drivers to PlateTXT them about their driving.  Parents can then receive close to real-time feedback via private mobile messaging or email to see what others are saying about their teens' activity on the roads.
